[ It's a few hours before BB-8 actually has a chance to tell him the news. That shortly after Cassian's ID appeared on the Network, so did someone else's.
He blinked at the droid for a long minute and then rubbed its head fondly and roughly. "Thanks Bud, this is great," he told BB-8, before pulling out his communicator. He was about to start a video message, but then paused. Right. Okay. Might be a little weird, getting a random video from a stranger hours after showing up.

Is this Commander Akobi of [ He almost wrote 'the Death Star', but then remembered that 622 didn't even recognise the designation, and changed track. ] battlestation DS-1?
[ He's pacing. He knows he shouldn't be - just outside the De Chima hab units. He knows this is a dangerous place for him: Kylo and Hux live in this unit, too. Normally he'd go straight to 622's door, but he doesn't know how to talk to 622 about what happened, and he can't barge in there without some kind of plan. He gave 622 his word to never lie to him again, and he fully intended on keeping it, but he was mildly terrified. He didn't know how the clone would react, and he'd already hurt one person incredibly deeply--
So, pacing, with BB-8 watching a few feet away, swivelling his head every few seconds to look out for Hux and Kylo. ]
[ A lot of people live in the De Chima hab block. TK-622. That Hux guy. But you know who else? Akobi, that's who.
He's taking a car home from the grocery store when he spots Poe pacing by the side of the road. He tells the driver to stop, let him out here. Something is obviously up with Dameron.
As he gets out of the car, he calls out. ]
Dameron! Help me with these bags, will you?
[ It's more of an order than a request, but can you blame him? That's what he's used to giving. ]
[He salutes. That's all the preamble there's going to be.] Sir, I'm worried about the situation with this Ezra Bridger. He's refused to acknowledge the truce.
[ Akobi nods in acknowledgement of the salute. It's amazing how one gesture can set the tone for the whole ensuing conversation. This is official business, Akobi can tell right away. ]
Yes, I'm worried about him as well. He's lied at least once, who's to say he won't keep doing it?
[ He sighs, tapping his fingers on his thigh in impatient consternation. ] Unfortunately, there's not much we can do about it without risking breaking the truce ourselves.
[ Akobi isn't actually at home when he receives the message. He's at Helix Station, making ample use of one of the training rooms there. When he sees the message, he knows he can't keep taking out his frustrations on a punching bag made of sand. ]
I'll be there.
Twenty minutes.
[ It doesn't give him enough time to change, so when he does show up in the park, it's with a grey Maurtia Falls t-shirt on over a pair of black sweats, navy blue hoodie lying unzipped over it. He isn't exactly striking the authoritative presence of an Imperial Officer, but looks never mattered all that much to Akobi.
He stands in the middle of the park by a fountain, not sure to look for Poe's approach on the ground, or from the sky. ]
[ A text from Finn. At first, Akobi is surprised, but then soon enough he realizes, of course he shouldn't be surprised. Finn is one of Dameron's closest allies. Of course Poe would have told him about their conversation. ]
Of course. There's a café in Maurtia Falls, near the Helix Station. Brewed Awakening. They know me there. Does that sound amenable to you?
[ A public place, but one where Akobi has the high ground. It's neutral, but not. ]
Explain 622's 4AM post to me, because judging from his replies I don't think I'm going to get this chip's implications for Aegis Force out of him in his state.
[ She may be acting Commander but she's still an internal agent first and she is not having another Udina situation on her hands. ]
[ He should have seen this coming, honestly. If only 622 had shown more restraint. ]
It recently came to our attention that the clone troopers (622 and Captain Rex, an older Republic clone) had a control chip present in their brains, with the potential to be hijacked by the Jedi for their own means. 622 has just had his removed. He is currently in recovery.
Rest assured, the chip has been removed, and so 622's actions cannot be controlled by an outside source.
[it's been a couple weeks since jacob returned from the dead and active duty which... archie doesn't agree with, but he can't do much about. he hasn't really thought about the small argument he and akobi had had while he was leading-- he's had far too much on his mind.
he's not looking to annoy the guy, but when he comes to akobi looking for some files, he has a shark hoodie on, his mightyena trotting along at his heel as always.]
Akobi! [he calls out, knocking on the door.] You in there?
[ Akobi has largely forgotten about his altercation with Archie as well, too consumed by work matters and arranging the repairs to his home. He's been sleeping at Helix for the duration, which is evident by the cot set up in the corner, and the fact that although he is wearing a suit, it's a wrinkled mess. ]
I'm here, [ he says perfunctorily. ] What do you want?
[archie's been staring at the same paragraph of this report for about... ten minutes now. no matter how hard he tries, he can't help mentally checking out after the third sentence or so.
he knows why. too much going on, not enough sleep, too much in his head. this sort of stress is making him want a drink so bad at times his hands almost shake, but he pushes through it. for the team, more than himself.
right now, though, archie gives up. he doesn't care if akobi's due to come in soon. he groans and donks his head on the desk through the paper. fucking assholes. abandoning them like this.
he misses ash. he misses ash and her sandwiches. thinking about it almost gets a pained noise out it him.]
[ Akobi's hab unit is repaired by now, but he's still sleeping in his office at Helix Station. The appearance of the Death Star has occupied so much of his time that he can't afford to leave.
His hackles were raised the instant he received the news that he would be sharing command with Archie, but to be honest, dividing their forces between Death Star related business and the rest of Aegis' responsibilities was probably the best way they could handle this scenario.
He knocks on the doorframe to Archie's office even as he opens the door, not waiting for a reply. He pauses when he sees Archie with his head down on the desk. ]
